On June 12, 2006 GBRf held a staff event at Wellingborough yard to mark the commencement of work on the 10 year Metronet contract to renew the over-ground part of London Underground. Wellingborough yard will be the main logistic base for materials such as sleepers, track etc to be used on the contract. All five Metronet liveried Class 66 locos (66718 - 66722) were brought to Wellingborough along with a new rake of Metronet wagons.
