Steam was allowed back out on the mainline in 1975 after being banned for many years The "Return to Steam No.3" railt-tour ran on April 26, 1975 and featured No. 35028 "Clan Line" from Hereford to Chester and No. 6000 "King George V" on the return leg. This charter started from London St Pancras headed by 47200. "The Mayflower" rail-tour ran on the same day utilising the same pair of locomotives between Hereford and Chester and return. This charter started from London Euston. Can anybody please confirm that this is Shrewsbury? The return of steam proved to be very popular as can be seen from this view of No.6000 at Ruabon on April 26, 1975 with "The Mayflower" from Hereford to Chester Return to the Richard Freeman Gallery Index page
